~ Mr. Smith-Maxwell purchased ‘Laird’ in 1996 for £ 3,800. “Laird was purchased because of his great character and depth of breeding. He has an excellent fleece, is sound on his legs and in the mouth and is an outstanding example of the breed.”

 

~ Mr. Smith-Maxwell offered laird for collection in 1996, by Edinburgh Genetics (UK) for Elite Genetics (USA). The first straws were imported to the USA by Elite Genetics and used for LAI in 1997 with the first (F1) progeny born in March 1998.

 

~ Laird was given ‘Elite’ status in 1997 earning over 75% of the possible points. In 1999, Laird went on to be selected ‘Elite Plus’ at the Welshpool Progeny Show based on his performance as a sire.
